We all are imitators in one way or the other. I have seen people imitating their favourite preachers or singers and who desire to be like them. I personally used to imitate others for fun and make the whole room laugh.
The one thing which is a prerequisite for imitating is to watch keenly or observe the way of talking, walking, sitting, teaching or many more.
I am not sure whether it is right or wrong to imitate someone but make sure if the person doesn’t get offended in any way or the other. I really like the people who ask me to imitate themselves. I am not giving a speech or encouraging you guys to imitate but encouraging you to be yourself.
As young pastors and Evangelists, we tend to keep some as our role models and preach the same way as them. I keep asking my students, who do you want to become? They list out several leaders and preachers. One thing is important that only Billy Graham can be Billy Graham or only Jerry can be Jerry. By role modelling others we fail to see God’s purpose in my life but instead try to be like someone else.
We are all unique and special in the sight of God. Although there are people who looks similar to us but each and every person is different from one another. He has a great plan for you and me. 2 Corinthians 2:9, ‘No eye has seen or heard what God has prepared for those who love Him’. No one has seen nor heard because it is God who is the giver of good things and giver of talents to us.
Let us understand the calling and style which God wants me/us to become instead of being others.
YOU ARE SPECIAL
