This title is a familiar term for many of us including me. This term is mainly used in the messages or personal evangelism when we ask the people whether you know Christ? If I say I know Narendra Modi, What Do I know? I know He is the Prime Minister of India and that he travels a lot 🙂 But that doesn’t mean that I know him completely. I do not know any of his details. Where was he born? What’s his favorite dish? his hobbies? etc., All this knowledge will come only if I spend more time with him. Whether Narendra Modi knows me or not is not the important issue but what is important for a child of God is whether God knows me or not?
When we say, we know Christ, it is an incomplete or a false usage because no-one has known Christ completely. We are actually lying when we say that we know Christ! I would rather say, “I am knowing Christ”. It is a process where I am learning more about Him day by day.
Knowing Christ is a huge task. it doesn’t happen all of a sudden. I see this responsibility as an ongoing process. When we experience God’s provision or an experience where we saw the hand of God, it is just a one step closer to God. Knowing Christ is like a wide ocean which cannot be measured.
Our knowledge about Christ is based on the fruits that we produce. The Bible says, The tree is determined by the fruit it bears. There is going to be a day when the fruits will be collected and weeds burned. Let’s be careful for we can fool people but we cannot fool God.
How do we know Christ?
We will know Christ when we follow His commandments. If we really know Christ, we will definitely follow the teachings of Christ. So, the knowledge is a practical aspect where we walk the talk or what we heard about Jesus, we are trying to implement that in our lives.
-Studying the Word and meditating will help us in knowing Christ.
Personal Prayer is another important element in knowing Christ. The more you sit in His presence, the more He will reveal Himself to us. Taste and see that the Lord is good is a dynamic phrase where we experience the goodness of God everyday in a higher dimension. A new believer might not get the same taste as that of a older believer. it is an ongoing process.
Evangelism is another important aspect in knowing Christ. Our obedience to Jesus’ commandments to go and preach good news is a part of knowing Christ where we follow the commandments of Jesus.
Let our knowledge increase day by day so that we will be proved faithful at the Second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
May the good Lord help us to be faithful to our Master.
